This morning the alarm went off at 6:16 a.m. and I didn’t want to get up. So I slept through two snooze cycles and got up around 6:45 a.m. I’ve been doing laundry all weekend so the first thing I did was go downstairs and move the last load I did from the washer to the dryer. I then brought up the laundry basket overflowing with clean clothes. I managed to get the towels and sheets folded before CootieGirl woke up for the day. All I had to do was mention that she was going to the zoo today with her daycare class and she was dressed and ready to go in a heartbeat. *lol*
I left the rest of the laundry to be folded tonight and got ready for work, and after loading the dishwasher with last night’s dishes I left to take CG to daycare. I got to work on time and have had a nice morning so far. However, I have a LOT on my desk that needs dealing with and it’s another one of those situations where it would only take 30 seconds of Mr. BIL’s time to give me an answer, but he pushes me off to do something else. And so my stack gets bigger. And I want to get these things taken care of because my review is on Thursday morning and I’d prefer for him to say, “You are good about nagging me until I get things done,” rather than, “There is always a delay in getting things out.” Fortunately from 1-3 p.m. today he has an open block time, so I’m hoping we can do these things during those hours. We’ll see.
In other news, I’ve been reading a lot about Novalis peel and stick floor tiles, and I have yet to read a single NEGATIVE review of these tiles. Everyone on every kind of homebuilding forum I frequent has nothing but nice things to say, and this is from people who have had them for a few years and those who just installed them last month. I hate our kitchen vinyl sheet flooring – it’s ugly, hard to keep clean and has tons of scratches and rips. So I’m really tempted to get Novalis floor tiles and cover up the ugly white vinyl flooring that we have. At $1 per square foot, it’s a cheap DIY project that will make due until we can put down bamboo or cork floors in a few years when we replace the countertops and extend the island. In other house news, our neighbors behind us found out they had hardwood floors under the carpeting they wanted replaced. So now we’re wondering if we have hardwoods under our TV room carpeting. I need to remember to lift up a corner this evening to see if it’s cement or hardwoods.
In other news, black widows are abounding in Fort Mill this year. I know of one woman who found SEVENTEEN black widow spiders taking up residence in her kids’ wooden playset. SEVENTEEN, people. And a friend of a friend found one outside her house whose body was the size of a nickel. Yet another woman has had a couple around her house as well. That’s not good. Fortunately Orkin just came to spray the exterior of the house last week, but I’m still uncomfortable about letting my kids play outside now.
Okay, that’s it for now. I do have a couple movie reviews coming up later.
Those tiles are great.. should have done a PPP post on them. Our old neighbor re-did her entire kitchen and used those tiles. They looked identical to the “real” tiles we had placed in our kitchen.. if not a bit more vibrant and she paid 1/4 of the cost we paid. As you mentioned she had a friend do it for her…. no labor involved.
Black Widow.. I think I mentioned to you that my brother down in Atlanta had an investation of them.. 0ver 50 in his house. Crazy!
I hate Spiders especially black ones.
Hi Jaynee,
