Woke up and got ready for church. Headed out around 9:40 a.m. When I pulled up at 10 a.m. there were only a handful of cars in the parking lot. Totally confused, I walked in to find them just beginning set up. Turns out that in the year since we left they moved the service to 11 a.m. But it was nice because I had an hour to talk to folks before the service started. My only mistake? Not calling Ace & Anthony to tell them I would be back at their house later than expected.
So church was great – it was nice to see everyone and the service was nice. Everyone appears to be doing really well and the band ROCKED IT. They definitely are more hard-edged than the band I play with in SC. New Jersey church = rock stars with tattoos and pants three sizes too big. South Carolina church = boys next door with button down shirts and Dockers. No joke. *lol* Totally different animals. Part of me wanted to jump on stage and sing backup, but I managed to refrain. 🙂
After church I chatted some more with people and then headed back to A&A’s where I got yelled at for not calling. Oops. I checked in for my flight tomorrow morning and upgraded to First Class. It was either first class or the LAST ROW, LAST SEAT on the plane. NO WAY! My original airfare was cheap enough that I felt the $100 to upgrade to first class was worth it so that I can sleep comfortably for a couple hours before landing and driving over to work a whole day.
Then we headed out to Sparta, NJ, where A&A are buying a house. It was a long but pretty drive, and their house is really nice (we didn’t go in – but simply drove by). Then we drove around the area for a bit before going to a restaurant for some lunch. Then we drove about an hour to a home furnishings store because they are interested in getting a new sofa for the new house.
And now we are home and I’ll probably be going to bed in a couple of hours since I need to leave the house no later than 3:45 a.m. so that I can drop off the rental car and take the shuttle to the airport to catch my 6:15 a.m. flight. Oof.
All in all, a GREAT weekend and totally worth it. Very relaxing even though we were busy. Not having a strict schedule definitely helped.
