Next Step: Passport

So back in 2000 I lost my passport. We discovered it was missing in 2001 when we moved from Queens to New Jersey. During that packup and move we looked for it and never saw it, and during this packup and move I once again searched and came up empty.

Since we’re going to Scotland in March I realized it was time to give up the half-hearted hunt and go get a new passport featuring a new! and improved! and fat! Jaynee picture. *sigh* Nothing says, “Enjoy your visit to our country!” like a double chin prominently photographed for the customs agent.

Not to be deterred, this morning I went and got it done. I’ve been told I should receive it in about a month, possibly six weeks at the latest. That’s more than enough time before our trip in March, so I’m glad I didn’t have to pay the $60 expedite fee to get it more quickly. Especially since I’m loath to see the picture that I’ll have to use for the next ten years.
