This morning I woke up at 6:30 a.m. and realized I was supposed to be at a preschool at 6:30 a.m. to take a tour of their facility. Oops. I quickly brushed my teeth, threw on some clothes, my hair in a rubber band and was out the door. Arrived only 15 minutes late, and found out that the “tour guide” was late as well! Phew!
The receptionist ended up giving me the tour. The facility is NICE. The playground rivals that of the park we go to on Sundays after church. To that end I know the kids will LOVE IT so much more than the one at their current preschool, which isn’t much of a playground at all.
The Pre-K room (where CootieBoy would be in the fall) is quite large, well designed and clean. The tour guide showed me the lesson plan book and described what a typical day is like. It sounded much more organized than our current preschool.
She then took me to the after school room, where CootieGirl will be since she starts school in the fall. that room is even larger and has tons of activities. The tour guide said that they have homework time in which a teacher is present specific to help kids who have problems with their work. They also have pre-planned activities like cooking classes (they have a licensed chef on site for all meals).
They have a great security system in place as well as video recordings of all class sessions so if there is any difficulty they can consult the tape to see what happens. She said in all the years of her working with the facility they have never had a need.
The cost is more than we pay now, but with CootieGirl being there part-time in the fall, the cost will end up going down about $20 per month. Not huge, but it’s a better facility that will engage our kids a bit more as opposed to being one big day of playing (which our current preschool seems to be, much to my chagrin).
