My Favorite Pants

240x180I came across some pictures a couple months ago of me during my raving days. I was happy to see my favorite pair of pants in one of the pictures. They have so many good memories for me that I still have the pants. They are packed away in a suitcase, where they will remain forever in my care. I LOVED those jeans.

They were those typically over-baggy jeans that ravers wore (wear? do they still wear them?). Slung low on the hips, with wide legs that scraped across the floor when you walked – unless you wore your platform Adidas sneaks. Add in my super-sized shirt and that was pretty much my “uniform” during those days. Ah, bliss. GOOD TIMES.

If those pants could talk they’d tell some AWESOME stories – of amazing parties all over the east coast, of hilarious car rides in the middle of the night to go to the parties, of hanging out at UVA, of sitting on the floor of some dirty warehouse and watching some amazing dancers. Of chilling out on the front stoop of a house that I rented that was Party Central for the nine months we lived there. Of the handmade 4 foot long chainmaille keychain that was perpetually clipped to my belt loop and keeping my keys secure in my backpocket for years.

Apparently there is Dockers contest where they are asking for people to send in videos talking about their favorite pairs of pants. I could spend a LONG time talking about those jeans. After a while they became frayed at the bottom and slowly over time they got shorter and shorter until they no longer dragged the ground, even in non-platform sneaks. Check out the Dockers website for some fun stories!
