Moving Forward Financially

This month was a fun month paying bills. I had a large check come in from my dependent spending account, and it allowed me to pay a lot of our bills out of my checking account. And even after paying those bills I have enough left over that I was able to pay three more that technically aren’t due until the end of the month. That’s thrilling.

I lamented a couple months ago about how we needed to become more fiscally responsible. It’s one reason I started my 30-day commitment to not eat out or order in. And that has totally paid off in a lot of ways – not just financially, but also in 3.5 pounds gone on my bathrooms scale.

I also joined a couple coupon groups online to see if we can reduce our grocery bill each month. I printed out one list for Harris Teeter and I’m hoping Denis was intrigued enough to give it a try for the next few weeks.

Don’t get me wrong – we’re not in such bad shape that we need to run out and get payday loans or anyting like that. But saving those few dollars a month will add up. The good news? In seven months CootieGirl will go off to Kindergarten and reduce our daycare expenses each month. THAT’S gonna be a great month.

With the new year our family is looking to begin budgeting and get on track financially. It’s been hard at times but we’ve been able to cut out most credit cards and have only had to use those payday loans only once or twice. Good luck on getting out of debt.
