Back in September 2004 I watched the A&E/BBC multi-part series called “Vanity Fair”. I spoke about how much I liked it and how I didn’t see this story becoming a solid 2-hour movie.
Sadly, I was right. Last night I watched the Reese Witherspoon version and it was greatly watered down and huge chunks were cut. The new version has a much nicer Becky Sharp, which is sad since the A&E/BBC Becky Sharp was completely hateful and more interesting to follow.
I won’t say much else, other than RENT THE MINISERIES. It’s infinitely better than this pale comparison.

I will have to find the miniseries. I liked the Reese Witherspoon movie much more than the book, but if you say the miniseries is far and away better than the movie, I’ll need to watch it. 🙂
