LOVED IT! I love Steve Carrell, I love Paul Rudd, and I love Judd Apatow (co-creator of the much missed “Freaks and Geeks”). Put them altogether and you have a movie that I will sure love, and did.
I got this DVD for Christmas from Denis, and it was a really fun movie. I feared it would be crass, but it really wasn’t. Steve Carrell is just so wonderful – he’s definitely making it onto the Fake Boyfriend list, if he isn’t on there already.
The story follows Andy, a man who works in an electronics store and has no friends and no life other than watching “Survivor” with his elderly neighbors. He rides a bike and collects action figures. Some co-workers begrudgingly invite him to a poker night (they need the extra player), and when they find out he’s a virgin at the age of 40, they decide to make it their mission to rid him of the “burden”.
The part I enjoyed the best was the extras on the DVD. It showed that a LOT of the funny lines in the movie were improved, which is always nice to see. It was also amazing to see that Steve Carrell really DID have his chest waxed during the scene – it was NOT faked. :rotfl:
All in all, a great movie and I’m glad it’s in my collection now.
