Movie: Spanglish

SpanglishI loved Spanglish. Absolutely loved it. From the first scene to the last I thought this was a great movie. Adam Sandler walks a nice line between comedy and drama in this movie, and I thought he was nicely cast as the regular joe with the neurotic wife and hot Mexican housekeeper. Tea Leoni keeps up her record of entertaining me in her portrayal of the wife. And Paz Vega was luminous as the housekeeper. Add in the hilarious Chloris Leachman as Tea’s mother, James L. Brooks’ witty dialogue and a nicely paced story, and you have a fun movie.

I didn’t know what to expect with this one, because I couldn’t remember the reviews. I assume it was a mixed bag, but let me go on the record and say again that I thoroughly enjoyed this entire movie and heartily recommend it to anyone out there. Several laugh out loud moments and yes, I hate to say it, a couple moments where my eyes got a bit wet. Call me a sucker.

4 restaurant stars out of five.

I expected this to be a mediocre movie, but totally loved it too! Adam Sandler CAN act!
