Movie: Serenity

Ace and I had a date and went to go see “Serenity” – which I absolutely adored. I never got into “Firefly” despite a great cast and a genius creator (Joss Whedon, ‘natch). But when I heard it was being made into a movie I knew I’d be there.

The movie was total Joss Whedon. If you like “Serenity” and never watched Buffy or Angel, then you need to rent the DVDs and watch all the episodes that Joss had a direct hand in. The biting humor, excellent action sequences, and gut-wrenching emotions all packed into some solid episodes on those shows. And I said on my sister’s blog a couple weeks ago, Joss is single-handedly responsible for the funniest line in the first “X-Men” movie.

Speaking in general terms, I was shocked that Joss killed off a major character, but then again that’s par for the course with Joss (RIP Fred on “Angel”, long live Illyria). I’m just sad about the person that it was (the actor – not the character) because I’m a huge fan of his.

All in all, I’ll probably buy this on DVD when it comes out, I liked it that much.

4 cold-blooded Operatives out of five.
