Movie: Night at the Museum

Talk about a fun family movie! We watched this when my family was here this past weekend and we all enjoyed it thoroughly.

Starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson and (yay!) Ricky Gervais, this was a FUN FUN FUN movie much in the same line as “Jumanji” and “Zathura”. It’s a pity that my kids are a bit too young to sit through the “boring” parts (read: adult conversations and general plot stuff). Because they’d love this movie. Oh well – they can see it in a couple of years because I know I’ll be adding this one to our collection.

When good-hearted dreamer Larry Daley (Stiller) is hired as night watchman at the Museum of Natural History, he soon discovers that an ancient curse brings all the exhibits to life after the sun sets.

The special effects were well done, Ben Stiller didn’t overact (which he tends to do with some of his comedy), Robin Williams looked JUST LIKE Teddy Roosevelt, and Ricky Gervais was perfect as the uptight museum curator (“Control your young!”). Best of all? Seeing Dick Van Dyke dance in the closing credits. The man can still move!!

We *loved* this movie. Even my finicky husband enjoyed it. In fact, we just visited this museum over Thanksgiving break so the girls remembered a lot of the displays, especially the animals. My favorite – the Easter Island head. Dum dum gum gum. LOL.
