Movie: Kinsey

Kinsey (Single Disc Edition)It takes a lot for me to turn off a movie before it’s over. It basically has to be unbelievably bad and unredeemable in every way(see: Ben Stiller/Owen Wilson’s “Starsky & Hutch”). I’ve seen a number of movies that, once credits rolled, I wished I had turned off halfway through (see: “Se7en”, “Happiness” and this review).

I made sure to do some researching before posting my comments, because I wanted to separate fact from fiction as I express my horror that this movie not only got made but had such a stellar cast (Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Chris O’Donnell, Peter Sarsgaard, John Lithgow, to name a few). Suffice to say that after looking through over a dozen sites – both pro and con re: Kinsey’s research – I’ve confirmed my belief that Kinsey was a sad man who lived a very sad life, despite the fact that the movie attempts to portray him as blissfully avant garde.

Don’t rent this movie. It’s dark, depressing and overwhelmingly disappointing.
