Wow, this movie made such a little impression with me that I almost completely forgot that we watched it this weekend! Much hyped and bally-hooed, I found “Good Night and Good Luck” to be a little boring. I really had high hopes for this movie, and I think that was the ultimate downfall.
David Strathairn is one of my favorite actors, so I was sad that I didn’t find his portrayal Edward R. Murrow to be particularly interesting. I thought the subplot of the Wershba couple (Robert Downey Jr. and Patricia Clarkson) completely pointless. The movie was slow and pedantic and just not as good as people made it out to be. And don’t get me started on the jazz singer thing.
And yes, I fell asleep for about 10 minutes in the middle of it. It was during the middle section where there was very little dialogue. At least, very little dialogue not worth listening to.

Wow! Colored me surprised. I may have to re-visit my Netflix queue and move it down the list a bit.
I think those who lived during that time and witnessed the hearings might have more of an interest of G. Clooney’s version of what happened. I actually remember my mom watching (while she ironed) the hearings when I was a little girl.
