Okay, so I have had several people tell me that “Brokeback” is a boring movie. And they weren’t completely off. It IS a boring movie, but the cinematography of this movie is so breathtaking that it kept me interested in this barely-has-a-plot movie.
Yes, it’s the gay cowboy movie (as it hates to be called). Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllanhal (sp?), yadda yadda yadda. The movie spans 20 years or so in the relationship between two sheep herders who start a romantic relationship one summer while tending sheep all alone in the mountains of Wyoming with no one else for company. At the end of the summer when he returns to his regular life he opts to go ahead and marry his girlfriend. Four years later he has a wife and two kids, and he gets a postcard in the mail from JG’s character, Jack. They meet up and find they still have feelings for each other and end up meeting every four years. Jack gets married, Ennis gets divorced, and life carries on. And still they meet every four years.
The screenplay came from a short-story, and that point is obvious given the lack of real “story” in this movie. And I have the same two complaints as everyone else about this movie: Heath Ledger mumbled his way through the whole movie and their aging makeup was laughable.
All in all, it wasn’t as great as people made it out to be, but it wasn’t quite as boring as others claimed. SO glad I didn’t see it in a theater, though. I would have been TICKED.

Sounds like the story line to Same Time Next Year. gail
btw, I typed in my e-mail wrong! there is no “i” before the 7.
