I can’t help it – I like Adam Sandler movies. Only a couple of them have been painful to watch (notably “The Waterboy”, which was horrible). I liked “The Wedding Singer”, so I presumed I’d like “50 First Dates” since he teamed up with Drew Barrymore for this one again.
And I did like it. Adam Sandler was appropriately goofy without going into Waterboy territory. Drew Barrymore was charming as the love interest with no short term memory. Rob Schneider was not needed, but a Sandler film without Schneider is like a Sandler film with Steve Buscemi. Wait, Buscemi wasn’t in this one.
Anyway, if you are in the mood for a sweet little romantic comedy, this one is worth the rental, in my opinion.
3 stars out of five.
I really DON’T like Adam Sandler, but I really liked this movie. I thought it was going to be stupid and have no plot or storyline and I was pleased that it actually seemed to have a story to it, at least one that was decent enough for me.
