More Than I Bargained For?

Last night was a busy one. As soon as I left work I went to pick up the kiddies from daycare and then we all went directly to Worship Night at church. It was the band’s first time performing at WN and went pretty well. We actually had a larger crowd than normal (I’d say about 50 people or so compared with 25 last time).

When WN was over, Christopher came up to me and asked if I’d be willing to lead worship on Sunday morning. “Where are YOU going to be?” I asked. “Florida,” he answered with a grin. I nodded, then agreed to lead.

Now, I’ve NEVER done anything like that before, so it’ll be new to me. I asked Ryan if he wanted to do keyboard and we quickly realized we’d need him on lead guitar because Ben, our other guitarist, is leaving this week to go back to school.

We picked out a few songs that were in my range and ran through them. Two songs are kind of dicey but for the most part I think it will be fine. I’ll be practicing a lot at home though. Since I’m so used to singing harmony I’m just not used to singing melody – even when I’m singing in my car I sing the harmony parts. It comes naturally and I don’t even realize I’m doing it half the time! Even last night I accidently started singing harmony in a couple places.
