Miscellaneous

1) Mr. BIL is out today, Monday and Tuesday. YAY! I like that over the next few days I can just volunteer to do dictation for people and know that I don’t have to work OT.

2) REAPER IS BACK!!! One of my favorite new shows of the fall season is back! Unfortunately, the first episode aired last night and I had no idea – I only found out watching my Tivo’d America’s Next Top Model from the night before last. ARG! But, I’m glad I have three more episodes to enjoy – and I hope that show gets renewed.

3) I have a nice quiet week with my Survivor Out Pick’em games. Whereas last week I had to go to tribal council in both games, this week both of my tribes won immunity. Also, in one game I won the reward challenge which was nice. What sucks is that in each game I had 30 points on Chet going home, but in the end I went in and edited before the cutoff, opting to put my points elsewhere. Dang it. I have PALTRY scores so far this season – I think they are 45 and 55 – compared to other players that have over 200 at this point.

4) Last night I went to videotape CootieBoy snoring and wouldn’t you know it – he was quiet as a church mouse. Mouth closed, no noise whatsoever. And he didn’t come crawling in our bed until after 6 a.m., and never really fell asleep, so I couldn’t videotape him this morning either. Figures. Fortunately, I have the next three days to tape him.

5) Tonight we’re going to a local high school to see their performance of “High School Musical” – the kids are really excited about it. Actually, the whole weekend is kid-friendly. Tonight is HSM, tomorrow gymnastics for CootieBoy, an easter egg hunt in our neighborhood that afternoon, and then the drive-in movie tomorrow night. Then on Sunday after church CootieGirl will be attending a birthday party of a friend of hers.

6) Last night I was talking to the neighbor behind us (we’re fence chatters – you know those people? That’s us). Their kids go to the same school as CB and CG now attend. I mentioned that CB has bitten a couple kids (including one yesterday), and she told me that she was at the school talking with one of CB’s teachers last week and the teacher told her that CB was having some ‘issues.’ My neighbor, God bless her, responded, “That’s really surprising because he’s a GREAT kid – he’s over at my house all the time with my boys and we’ve never had a problem – he’s very sweet. He probably just doesn’t like change and needs some time to adjust.” When she told me she said that I thanked her profusely and said that for a “stranger” to say that to a teacher was more important than any assurance *I* could give the teacher that this was a temporary regression.

7) My weight loss study continues to go well. Other than the day my meds increased I’ve had no more freaky afternoon trips. And I’m down another 1/2 pound, for a total of 14.5 pounds gone. I’m hoping I’ll be down the full 15 by Sunday, but with our kid-friendly weekend of movies and parties, I don’t know if that’ll happen – we’ll see. Maybe all the activity will help me drop that 1/2 pound. I still have no Playstation in order to do “Dance Dance Revolution” for exercise. I think I’d be dropping weight like crazy if I had that. I’ll probably wait until after Disney to get one – if we have $$ leftover from the trip I’ll buy a used one from one of my forum mommies and then get the mat and game off Craigslist. But I don’t want to spend that kind of money before the trip.

8. I had a lady contact me earlier this week about a custom blanket, and when I told her that the fancy fleece I use was most likely not available in the color she wanted, she balked completely and said, “I’ll get my aunt to make it – she says she can find it.” Okay, whatever. I may call the big fabric store in our area (it’s in Gastonia) and see if they carry it – if they do, I’ll email the woman back and tell her I found it. But I don’t EVER recall my suppliers EVER having it in that color.

That’s it for now.

I agree, but I’m not too worried about it. The teacher is very young (early 20s) and very friendly and open – from my neighbor’s comments, the teacher didn’t say it to be snide, but said it during a general conversation about the kids.

I’d be bothered that the teacher was sharing my kids issues with other parents. It’s none of their business. But it is great that your neighbor defended on the spot.

Weird about the blanket lady – if her aunt could do it in the first place why did she come to you?

I think the teacher ONLY shared because my neighbor told her that she was my neighbor and that the kids play together all the time. I think at that point the teacher felt comfortable sharing. I’m confident the teacher would not just tell a random visiting parent that they were having issues with CootieBoy. And from what my neighbor said, the teacher didn’t say WHAT the issues were (i.e., biting) – just that he was having issues. That could have meant anything from separation anxiety to not eating to whatever. In fact, my neighbor didn’t know about the biting until *I* told her.
