Merry Christmas

Good morning everyone, and merry Christmas! It’s 6:19 a.m. where I am – CootieBoy has just had a bottle and is now settled in front of Baby Mozart, and everyone else is asleep. Today is the day that some of our earliest Christians have set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who came to provide salvation and redemption and to restore our relationship with God. What an amazing sacrifice, for which I’m eternally grateful.

I hope you all have a blessed holiday filled with love, laughter, hope and joy.

Merry Christmas!

Last night, in keeping with my family’s tradition, we opened gifties. We also did it early because CootieGirl was very tired and fussy and sick and in need of bed. CootieGirl made out on the clothes front. Not only did Mama give her clothes, but so did other family members. Who knew my daughter would someday need a closet bigger than mine? She also got a wonderful Melamine food dish set with the original Winnie the Pooh graphics on it. CootieGirl had a lot of fun banging those pieces against each other and against the wood floors (I think I’m deaf in my right ear as a result).

As for me, I can always count on Denis to be overly generous and incredibly creative, and this year was no different. The most shocking gift of all: a digital camera. It’s one similar to the one we got for my sister, and I’m SO excited (and I’m sure he is too since I won’t have to borrow his anymore). I also got a plethora of books, cds, and dvds. The two things that made me laugh out loud: a Legolas poster and a bunch of “Elf” paraphrenalia including a snowglobe, a keychain and a t-shirt (just to name a few). I love that movie and am happy to have my mini-collection of Elf stuff.

I’ll let Denis post about what he got, but suffice to say that I was happy we were done by 9:30 p.m. because I was ready for bed soon after. Today we go to Grandma’s place in Queens, although CootieGirl spent most of the night coughing because of her cold, so she’s very cranky right now and not easily entertained.

I think it’s the Canon A300. It’s a tiny camera, but I’ve foudn it was a couple limitations – the biggest being the batteries run out REALLY quickly when you have it set on high resolution and use the flash a lot. You end up only being able to take about 60 pictures before having to replace the batteries.

The other limitation is shutter speed when using the flash – you press the button to take a great picture, but then the camera doesn’t actually SHOOT it for about 3-4 seconds, so I’ve missed some cute CootieGirl pictures while waiting for it to shoot with the flash.

Other than those two things, it’s a good little camera for the truly AMATEUR photographer (my solution: set it to a slightly smaller resolution and don’t use the flash if you can help it).

Yeah, I killed the batteries early too. I plan to buy rechargeable soon, for now I’m using the stock of AAs I have for my portable CD player. I also set my resolution to smaller and will watch the flash. I noticed that delay as well.

Thanks again for the camera. A great gift that will get a lot of use.

Lithium batteries might help too… I used them for my old Olympus and they did wonders!!!

I expect a lot of photos from you two πŸ˜€
