It took me an hour to get home to meet Denis so he could go to the airport. What should have taken 20 minutes took 60 minutes. Why? Jack-knifed tractor trailer on 77 South.
When I got home Denis was running the new vacuum upstairs (she is lovely) while the cleaners were finishing up the stairs and entryway. The smell of “clean” was in the air the minute I walked through the door. I did a quick check and everything I saw was great on the main floor, then I went upstairs for some quick cleaning of our bathroom, the guest bath, and dusting our bedroom and the guest bedroom. All in all we have a pretty clean house right now!
I ended up paying a bit more for the cleaning since they were there 3 hours instead of 2, so I didn’t tip. Is that rude of me? I feared it was. But since I had to pay for the extra hour I didn’t have any left over for the tip. I’ll get ’em next time (this deep cleaning thing may become a twice a year event based on how it looked when I left).
Made it back to work in 20 minutes once I left the house, and fortunately Mr. BIL was at lunch when I got back, so he doesn’t know just how long I was gone. I’ll still be working a bit late tonight to make up for it. The attorneys are all having some Christmas party, but I told Mr. BIL this morning that I’d stay late to do dictation if he required it. He said he might and he appreciated the offer.
Tip: I would have said they can either take the tip or take the extra hour. It would have been their choice.
Yes, but if they didn’t work the extra hour, the main floor of my house wouldn’t have been completely cleaned.
Adding to the jacknifed truck on 77, your commute was also probably affected by the partial parking garage collapse at Nordstroms at a mall in Charlotte.
Actually, Marmie – that happened after I got back to the office this afternoon.
