So today was a day spent primarily just chilling out. The kids slept in later than normal since my parents’ basement has only one window. We all slept until about 7:30 a.m. – a record for these kids, I think.
The kids spent the morning playing and whatnot while I played along and also watched A&E’s “Pride & Prejudice” on tv. At some point we put CootieBoy down for a nap and then Denis and I took CootieGirl shopping with us. We hit up Barnes & Noble and bought the stuff we needed, then hit the local Safeway so Denis could buy a few things that he forgot to bring.
Once home it was time for lunch and then more playing. We didn’t bring any toys with us this weekend, but my mom cleaned up my old Fisher Price toys from when I was a wee one, and both CootieGirl and CootieBoy have been merrily playing with the house, school and castle. In particular they both love throwing the people into the dungeon on the castle. CootieBoy has also had fun running laps through the house – he’s been constantly on the go, touching anything and everything that struck his fancy. Fortunately we’ve only had one broken item so far – an old cookie jar that my mom had on a low shelf on an armoire.
Around 5:00 p.m. Jen met up with us and we left CootieBoy and CootieGirl in my parents’ care and hopped over to a theater to see “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (review to come but suffice to say: LOVED IT. BEST YET.)
We’re now home. Kids are sound asleep and I am very tired and following suit. Tomorrow is a long day – I have a bridesmaid fitting in the morning and then tomorrow evening my Dad’s side of the family gets together to celebrate Christmas now. Since my sister’s wedding is gobbling up the Christmas holiday, we’re doing the Christmas party a bit early this year.
Hey, I forgot to ask how the fitting went…
