Today CootieBoy had an amazing birthday. I think that he had a great time considering all the things he got to do.
The morning started off with presents and french toast. Then we drove over to Greensboro where I picked up my keyboard (eek!) and then we headed to the Natural Science Center of Greensboro. It’s an interesting facility. Not terribly big, it still managed to have a wide variety of things for kids to enjoy. Puzzles, a maze, live animals, dinosaur bones – it had a little bit of everything and the kids totally enjoyed it. The price was decent too, since we had coupons. The whole family got in for $23. We had intended to go over to a children’s art center after that, but CootieBoy started wilting a bit, so we opted to head back home. On the way we stopped in Lexington for some barbecue (after all, it is considered the BBQ capital), as well as stopping at another place to pick up some BBQ to bring home. Then once we arrived home Denis ran out to get the Spiderman cake he had put on order earlier this week.
We each had a slice of cake and then I gave CootieBoy a quick bath since he ended up with icing in his hair. After the bath we headed over to our daycare, which was celebrating birthdays for three other kids (they didn’t realize CootieBoy’s birthday was today). There, CootieBoy and CootieGirl got to ride a pony, eat some pizza, play some kids’ games with their friends, and watch fireworks. When the time came for the three kids to open their presents, CootieBoy got a bit upset. He didn’t throw a tantrum or cry, he just had a MAJOR upside down smile going. One of the mommies there felt bad, so she had him “pick a hand” and he “won” a dollar to put in his bank. That was VERY nice of her and CootieBoy was thrilled – running to show Daddy his crisp new dollar bill.
We got home about thirty minutes ago and the kids basically collapsed into bed for the night. I asked CootieBoy if he had a good birthday, and he beamed and said yes. And thank you.
Such a sweet boy.
