Long Commute

Nothing like a two-hour commute to work, although this time it was entirely my fault.

I woke up late this morning – about 6:45 a.m. I have to be out of the house by 7:10 a.m. in order to get a parking spot at the park ‘n’ ride, but this morning because I was late I didn’t leave until 7:15 a.m. And of course, after a ride through both parking lots at the park ‘n’ ride there were no spots left. I opted to drive down Allwood and park on the street, and finally found a good spot. Parked, walked the 50 feet to the bus stop and just as a bus pulled up I reached into my purse for my wallet – no wallet.

*sigh*

I walked back to my car, drove back home and grabbed my wallet (it was in the kids’ diaper bag that we took to church yesterday). CootieGirl was up by that point, so I gave her a hug and kiss and left again. I managed to park on the street again in the exact same spot and walked to the bus stop and this time there was no bus in sight. I waited at least ten minutes for a bus to come by – which is a long time during commuting hours – usually the buses come every 2-3 minutes. So I get on the bus at 7:50 a.m. – a full half hour late.

Pulled into Port Authority at 8:30 a.m., which is about the time I’m fixing my bowl of cereal here at my job. Another bus ride from Port Authority to Rock Center and I walk in the office doors at 9 a.m. – a full 45 minutes after I usually get here.
