Late Night, Or Early Morning, Depending On Your Perspective

CootieBoy has allergies. It has to be allergies from the way he is constantly rubbing his eyes at night and howling in misery. Which means I must have allergies too, although not nearly as bad as CootieBoy.

Last night we had issues. CootieBoy apparently slept all day at daycare, thus not being tired at his normal bedtime. We gave him a bath and Denis noticed a small rash on CootieBoy’s back (very faint, but still there). After the bath I attempted to settle CootieBoy into his crib and for the next two hours I was coming in and out of his room trying to get him to sleep. We even kept CootieGirl up later than usual in order to get him to pass out without keeping her up. By 10 p.m. both kids were still up and we finally put CootieGirl to bed in hopes that CootieBoy would eventually pass out. He did, but not until after 10:30 p.m.

Unbeknownst to me, at 1 a.m. CootieBoy woke up and Denis took on the challenge of trying to sooth CootieBoy and get him back to sleep. At 4 a.m. he gave up and brought CootieBoy into our room. This is when I woke up – I didn’t hear a thing from 1 a.m. – 4:16 a.m. CootieBoy wanted nothing to do with me at all and would only calm down for Denis when Denis sat in a nearby chair, so Denis eventually took CootieBoydownstairs and watched tv and sat in the recliner for a couple hours. I stayed up, thinking that they’d come back up eventually. While waiting I watched “How I Met Your Mother”, 2 episodes of “Veronica Mars” and the interesting parts from “America’s Next Top Model”. At that point Denis came back up, as did the sun. CootieBoy eventually passed out after his initial distaste for laying down in our bed with us. Denis quickly fell asleep as well, and I finished the last remaining bit of my Tivo watching.

Denis is taking CootieBoy to the pediatrician today to try and get some Claritin. We used that last year for CootieGirl a couple times and it worked well. Either way CootieBoy needs relief…

Make sure Denis asks the Dr. about the rash in between his toes as well.
