It’s official – the closing is done and I just got an email from the realtor saying that the paperwork for our files is in the mail. We are now officially on our way towards moving to Fort Mill, SC!!
Now if I can just get my parents to invest in the lot next to us…we’ll be golden. Last night when talking with my mom about the land she threw out the notion of she and Dad investing some of their money in real estate, to which I said, “Buy the lot next to us!”
And it makes sense – it’s a sound investment because FM is growing so much. There are home builder signs on every corner in the town because it’s growing so much. It’s good land in a good location with good schools so the land will continue to appreciate. If they held it for even just three years and then sold they’d make tons of money. And we’d kind of get to have a say in who moves in next to us instead of being at a seller’s mercy. I told Mom that another alternative is that they buy it now and WE buy it from them in three years at a slightly-less-than-market-but-still-more-than-they-paid price.
Apparently the guy that keeps trying to buy the lot next to us is a builder and has been pestering the realtor with nonsense offers. She said he’s driving her nuts and she just doesn’t want to deal with him. Neither does the seller, who mentioned over the weekend his own lack of trust in the guy making the offer.
