We had a good weekend and I’m excited about this week – the last full week of summer vacation!
Denis did some much needed yardwork and the neighbors can’t complain anymore. There’s still tons to do, but at least we don’t have weedy grass 12″ tall in the front anymore (yes, we’re THAT neighbor). I have great hopes for the front yard, but most of it won’t come to fruition until the weather cools down.
Speaking of weather, this week is supposed to be the hottest week of the summer, so what do I do? PLAN A TRIP TO THE ZOO!! Why is that bad? Because the Columbia Zoo is one of the hottest places in this country. It sits in that “perfect” place in SC (Columbia) where the hot air just SITS there – making it easily 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the state. So if it’s 95 degrees here, then it’s easily 105 degrees there. But I told the kids I’d take them, and take them I will. We’ll just get there at opening time and leave to come home at lunch time.
In addition to the zoo and bowling I’ll be taking them to the pool a few more times as well as the last free movie being offered this summer. Then Saturday night we’re taking them to a Charlotte Knights game. All in all – I’d say that’s a pretty good final week of summer!
As for me, I finished Stage 2 of my freelance project and now the ball is in their court to bring me Stage 3. My other long-term freelance project has completely stalled. The deadline came and went, and last week I logged onto Elance to adjust the deadline again – but they have yet to respond and agree to move the deadline. So that project may be over – which is fine with me. But at least FINISH out the project so it doesn’t languish. I may email my contact again and say, “Hey, no biggie if the project is over – let’s close it out and give feedback and move on.” I like closure.
I’ve been doing well with my grocery game lately, even though I haven’t posted about it much. Yesterday I got $60 in groceries for $5.48. Nice!! We’re fully stocked up for the kids’ lunches for at least the first couple of months. I do need more bread though. I only have three loaves in the freezer, and that’ll be used up pretty quickly using 4 slices a day on sandwiches (6 if I decide to have a sandwich myself)!
Okay, time to go clean up the house and take the kids bowling. Have a good week!
