I’m So Upset!

I just signed into our subdivision’s website and saw a notice there from a woman who lost her dog last week. A black and white BLIND dog. Remember that walk I took with CootieBoy last week? That’s the dog! I’m heartbroken. I don’t know why the owner’s didn’t put up signs around the neighborhood, nor do I understand why they didn’t have a collar on their dog with a phone number. If they had done either of those things, I would have returned that dog to them that very night!

Instead I handed it over to another woman who planned on taking it to the humane society the next day. Fortunately, I just saw online that the Fort Mill Humane Society is a no-kill shelter. So if Laura did take the dog to the shelter, chances are that it’s still there. I can’t wait for this day to be over so I can run home and go straight to Laura’s for trick-or-treating and see what she did with the dog.

As it is, I left a message with the dog’s owner about seeing it, and that she should call the humane society to see if it was turned in. I left her my cell and asked her to call me. Then, because I’m so heartsick I called the shelter myself and left a message asking if that dog had been turned in and that I knew who the owner is.

Why oh why didn’t I check that website last week??

Note to self: Go to PetSmart and get updated tags for the cats and dog with our new number on them.

Update at 4:30 p.m.: I got a call from the humane society saying they have NOT received a dog matching my description, so with any luck Laura was able to find the owner last week and the owner just never updated her message board post at the subdivision website.

I’m going to Petsmart for some cat food and a kitty litter matt in a little bit. I’ll pick up new tags for the animals while I’m there.

P.S., I did see signs for a lost dog at the intersection a few days ago. I didn’t get out of my car to read them but I did see them there.

Good news about the shelter. I’m sure the dog will be returned to the owner.

Denis – I saw a sign for a lost CAT the other day, but never saw one about a lost dog. It’s a miracle that dog lasted a full 24 hours alone considering it kept walking into the road due to it’s blindness. Poor little guy.
