It’s 2:45 a.m. and I’m sick. My fever started at around 7 p.m. at a manageable 99.2. Then about an hour later it was up to 99.7. Then it eeked up to 100.2. Then by 10 p.m. when I went to bed it was 100.8. At about 1 a.m. I woke up and found myself at 101.2 degrees. I don’t know what I am now but I can’t take my temp since I just drank a glass of cold juice. But even though I’m dressed all in thermal I’m freezing cold and have been since about 8 p.m.
I rarely get sick, so I expect this will pass, but unfortunately I can’t call in to work tomorrow because if I do it’ll go down as an unpaid day, and we can’t afford that. So I’ll go in and try to stick it out for four hours so that if I do still feel like crap by 1 p.m. I can leave and only sacrifice four hours of pay.
What sucks is that I can’t sleep. I’ve been tossing in the bed since I woke up at 1 a.m. I’m tempted to go downstairs to the living room and put on the tv, since that’ll probably lull me to sleep. But the prospect of it NOT lulling me to sleep is not thrilling.
