Where was I?
Oh! CootieGirl has taught herself how to swim. She still needs to learn the finer points, but over the weekend she took it upon herself to hold her breath, go under the water and begin kicking forward. This from the girl that is terrified to take a bath for fear that she’ll drown.
Finished up one small freelance project this morning and start another one this afternoon. God is good! He has consistently provided freelance work since I got laid off.
The planner in me is freaking out about the summer break, so last night I sat down and created a schedule of each and every thing we’ll do each day. It’s color-coded! Today was the first day to use the chart and….we haven’t done any of it. Heh. It didn’t help that instead of being up at 7 a.m. (per the chart), I slept until 9 a.m. (bliss!). After lunch we’ll get back on schedule. No, really!
This week will be busy – I have book club tomorrow night and then on Thursday the ladies from my small group are getting together to watch a Beth Moore video about Esther from the Bible.
Denis hit up the “Taste of Charlotte” festival this weekend and picked up some freebies and some great coupons. WOO HOOO!!!
Yet ANOTHER house on our block is on the market – that makes five houses – two with pools in their backyards. They are all priced appropriately, so we’ll see what happens. But it’s a good thing we don’t plan on selling anytime soon because that’s just too much immediate competition for my liking.
We took the kids bowling yesterday. We were taking them to a birthday party, but it turns out it’s NEXT week. We had a free pass for one game of bowling, so we used it and let the kids get an afternoon of warmup playing in advance of next week’s party. In other news, Denis only beat me by 3 points. If I hadn’t bowled a GUTTER BALL immediately after bowling two strikes I would have won.
Denis and I have been watching the “Band of Brothers” miniseries and it’s just as good today as it was when it originally aired in 2001. Such a tremendous cast and some great storytelling. The greatest generation? Absolutely!
CootieGirl graduated from kindergarten on Friday. It was a cute little ceremony and party. Hard to believe it’s over already. I can remember her first day like it was yesterday! I also found out that her teacher is moving to the new elementary school that my kids will be attending next year, so I’m hopeful that CB gets her as a teacher since he REALLY likes her (her daughter was in CB’s preschool class last fall).
A couple more movies: “Sahara” with Matthew McConaghey and Penelope Cruz. Just meh, but it passed the time. “Leatherheads” with George Clooney and Renee Zellweger. Another meh movie – but George is HOT when he goes for that 1940s look. Hubba hubba.
Favorite new TV show: “Dogtown” on National Geographic TV. Finally had a chance to watch the two episodes that I Tivo’d a while back. Love it. Wish I could work at that facility!!!
