Last night we got home from work to find a box outside our house. We weren’t sure if it was a Christmas gift we had ordered and forgotten about, or something else entirely.
Imagine our surprise when we opened it to find a gift basket from our pals Ace and Anthony, with a note saying “Happy Thanksgiving!”
Talk about feeling like a chump. I wasn’t aware that it was customary to send THANKSGIVING gifts to people. When we arrived at their place for “Survivor” night, I asked Ace why on earth he’d send us a gift for Thanksgiving.
“Why not?” he said, “I wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth if it were me.”
I told him I wasn’t, after all that gift basket had some great goodies in it. But I still can’t help but wonder if I’m an inadequate friend for not thinking of the idea first.
Good post title…It may be a newer custom to give gifts to people on non-traditional gift giving holidays. It’s another way for Hallmark and the like try to make more money. *she says cynically*
No one that I know sends gifts for Thanksgiving, but if they feel like giving you one, hey. I also like the colors. They are good autumn colors. I think you should change the colors according to the seasons, that would be cool.
I thought of the idea of sending the boys a Thanksgiving gift basket, but I didn’t want to show them up. Plus, I thought you’d think it was a dumb idea. And then look what we get!
I read the title of this post and I thought it was another one of those silly web sites where you type your name in a field and they spit back what kind of person you are, and you got:
“You are an Inadequate Friend and A Horsemouth Looker.”
*lol*
Denis, that’s what I thought too when I saw the title…hilarious.
