Those who have read this blog for a long time know that before I got married I was deep into the rave culture, which is an underground dance movement associated with house music and drugs. I stopped going to raves when I got married, and kind of thought the movement died a few years after I stopped going.
Not so! Apparently there was a silent rave in NYC this past Friday night. Thousands of ravers converged on Union Square in Manhattan armed with iPods and dancin’ feet. They proceeded to dance for the next five hours – but no music could be heard. Just the sounds of people dancing quietly amongst themselves. Everyone had their own playlist playing on their iPods and danced however they wanted to.
I think that is FABULOUS and I really wish I still lived in the NYC are so that I could have participated. That would have been AWESOME.
Silent Rave? For five hours?! That’s really impressive. What a cool experience!
