I Think We Have a Holiday Card Fetish

Lots of holiday talk here lately, huh? Well, we’re nearing the season, aren’t we? Every year Denis and I debate over our Christmas cards. We have so many that we actually are still using cards we bought when we were first married ten years ago. If you are one that has received the same card a couple times in the past five years, please accept my apologies. *lol* We try to spread ’em out, but the fact is that we send out 60+ cards a year, but we currently have in our possession over 200 cards. And every year we buy another 24-30 in post-Christmas discount sales. I always make it my goal to use the older cards so that they can get weeded out. I think I did well last year, finishing out at least 3-4 different sets that we had even when we lived in QUEENS (which was pre-2001).

What’s funny is that you’d think I would hate Christmas cards. I remember when I worked for the investment bank in NYC we’d send out over 1,500 corporate Christmas cards every year (maybe even over 2,000). Those would get divvied up between all the admins, but without fail Mare-Bear and I would do the bulk of them because the other admins mysteriously didn’t have time.

Denis and I debated at some time about getting Christmas cards with photos but just never did it. But we love getting them because it’s great to see our friends’ kids growing up each year. This year I’m going to try and only use the really old cards so that next year I have a good excuse to buy cards like this one for just one year.
