It’s about 3 p.m. and we’ve have a GREAT day today!
At 8:30 a.m. we had a ton of river rock delivered. When the guy finished dumping it out, Denis and I both said, “That’s it?” The pile of rock was pitifully small. After Matt the Rock Guy left I called the landscaping place we ordered from, and promptly ordered three more tons. Miraculously, they said they’d be able to deliver it today, and they also gave me the contractor’s rate as an apology for not calculating the proper amount we’d need the first time.
At 9:30 a.m. I mowed the back lawn and was disturbed to see a “leaves of 3, leave it be,” kind of plant among the actual lawn. We’ve had it in the landscaping part of the yard, but this was also coming up in the grass. So I went online to make sure it wasn’t poison ivy, and kept getting conflicting information. I finally asked my neighbor, who checked it out and claimed it was wild strawberry. Relief!
Here’s a picture – feel free to weigh in with your opinion on what it is:
At 10 a.m. our garage repair guy came. We’ve had a dent in our garage door since we bought the house, and so he came out to get rid of the dent for us. He took apart the door and promptly banged out the dent, put the door back together and put some caulk in the two small cracks to cover them up. Looks like a brand new door to me. Hardly any sign of the dent. So we should be home-free on the “friendly reminder” letters we’ve been getting from the HOA now and then. We still plan on painting the garage door though – it’s not a pure white compared to the other stuff on the outside of our house, so we’ll do that at some point (probably in the fall).
At 12:30 p.m. the second batch of rock was delivered by Matt the Rock Guy. Denis and I got to work and promptly began raking it out. It looks good and we even have some extra for when we do the small 5×5 patch on the other side of the garage (but that’s a project for the fall – I’m done with landscaping for now). At 2 p.m. Denis left to go watch the Mets game at a bar for a couple hours. Let’s Go Mets! I’ll be working on freelance stuff while he’s gone, and the kids (who have been behaving nicely all day (“Mama – I used my manners!”) get to watch videogames since they are too scared of the bees to go play on the trampoline.
All in all, a VERY productive day thus far!
Yep, definitely strawberry – We had tons of those in our back garden when we moved in that were a real pain in the you know what. They spread like weeds in an almost vine like state across the ground. Very annoying!
Love the new landscaping job btw – forgot to add that comment!
