Go Ahead, You Can Say I’m a Nerd, But I Can DANCE, Y’all

I’m a HUGE fan of the dance shows on tv. Ballroom, hip hop, swing – you name it, I love it. About the only thing I don’t watch is ballet. I am constantly amazed by what the kids do on “So You Think You Can Dance” – and even Denis said tonight that the kids on SYTYCD seem much more professional than the best of the American Idols. And all those folks do is sing!

So tonight during the “SYTYCD” finale, I realized that all of the encore dance routines that the judges chose were ones that I loved from the season as well. I came into the office where Denis was and said, “You know, of all the reality shows on tv, ‘SYTYCD’ is the tour I’d be willing to pay money to go see.”

I left the room and went back into the tv room to continue watching, and at the next commercial break the announcement came on that tickets for the Charlotte performance were on sale! I rushed back to the office and had Denis do a search for two tickets. According to the initial seating chart that came up, and the fact that Denis said tickets had been on sale for about a week, the two seats were in the very back of the lower level. Disappointed, I went back and watched the rest of the finale.

So just now I hopped online for a few minutes and thought, “I wonder if I can get better seats by buying just ONE ticket instead of two.” Within five minutes I had bought a ticket. And it’s a decent one!

See this chart?

I’m in the fifth row of section FL7. Oh how I WISH I had Denis look to see what *single* seats were available when I first came into the office. I’m POSITIVE I would have been in that very front section somewhere. But I am not going to complain about section FL7, which is pretty darn close, and in the center of the stage (I debated briefly about getting seats in Section 107, but was afraid it would be a very obstructed view despite being closer to the stage).

And while we’re talking about “SYTYCD” let me just gush for a minute about Cat Deeley, our intrepid host with the crooked nose (seriously – if you haven’t noticed it when she looks directly into the camera, you will next time you see her on tv). She knocks Ryan Seacrest out of the park when it comes to hosting. She obviously loves the kids she works with every week, as proven by her tears when a favorite is booted off the show, or her honest praise after a particularly amazing routine. She’s awesome. Adriana Costa (who ranks as one of the WORST hosts with her turn hosting “On The Lot” this summer) needs to take some serious lessons from Miss Cat.

So what happened to getting a ticket for Denis as well? Did he get bumped to the curb?

Oh I wouldn’t have taken Denis if I got two tickets – he’s not into that stuff. If I had gotten two tickets I would have taken someone else – a gal pal (or a gay pal *lol*).

The sad thing is, I heard on TV the day before the tickets went on sale that they were going to be on sale for Charlotte on Saturday and I was going to surprise you and buy two tickets, thinking you’d probably like to go since you watch the show every week. And if you’re willing to buy Last Comic Standing tickets, why not that, but I forgot and that was that. Oh, well. At least I had the best intentions. Too bad we don’t know anyone else in town. You could buy two single seat tickets and both go to the show just not sit together. At least you’d have someone to talk to about the show after it was over. And I’m not the one to drag to this.

Denis, stop saying stuff like “too bad we don’t know anyone in town” *lol* We’ve been here a year – I think I know some people by now. So do you. If not, I’m a hermit who would never go to a SYTYCD show anyway.

Okay, I’m the hermit. And I don’t know anyone I’d call a friend.
