Okay, I have found some really fun new toys to showcase here at Cootiehog, and I’m sure you’ve seen them at the bottom of the post, but I thought I’d go into detail on them.
Now you’ll see this little guy, along with some icons. This is a new commenting button. If you want to show some love but don’t have time to actually submit a comment, then click on the icon of your choice. Just hover your mouse over the icons to see your choices. They are: Cool, Fun, Insightful, Fell Asleep, I’m Confused and I Disagree. Sure, those last three might hurt my feelings a bit, but it’ll also help guide me when I’m starting to get a little too boring. This plugin is courtesy of PostReach.com and can be written for most blogging platforms.
Below the “If you like that post” stuff you’ll now see a Popularity Scale. This automatically tracks the most popular posts at Cootiehog. Right now my Bachelor post is off the hook since the last episode aired last night, but in my admin page it tracks all visitors to individual posts and is VERY cool. This plugin is courtesy of Alex King who also created one of my favorite themes of all time, “Alexified.”
I’ve also adjusted my “If You Liked That Post” plugin so that it only shows up on posts about movies, books, tv, music, websites, and polls/fun stuff. I figure you don’t care about what happened to CootieBoy in 2004, or how my gym workout was in May 2005. So that’s gone except for categories where you might like to continue reading some of my thoughts on pop culture.
Last but not least, I now have a function wherein my WP tags automatically get connected into Technorati’s system to increase my visibility. Having tags go directly to Technorati will keep me accountable for tagging my posts clearly and whenever possible. That plugin can be found here.
