Fun Afternoon

Today our small group met up at a local park for breakfast-as-dinner and some free play for the kids. It’s the first day with no rain in over a week, so we were all very excited to be out in the sun, even if the winds were blowing in bursts of at least 15-20 mph the entire time.

Denis made N’awlins-style shrimp and grits, and other dishes included jello salad, a couple egg casseroles, some great homemade biscuits and monkey bread. Mmm mmm good.

The kids got to run around and eventually a football came out. Denis and I threw it around a few times – it took us a few tries to get the hang of it since the ball was a bit deflated. I caught it a few times and eventually my throws were half-decent. Not as good as when I was in college and could really throw a football well, but decent. I only lost one nail (although two chipped a bit). Then a couple of the other guys joined in, and CootieBoy and I decided to kick soccer ball (which was actually a volleyball) in another nearby field.

I’ll be VERY sore tomorrow – I can already feel it in my shoulder. *lol* Fortunately I don’t have a huge typing gig this week so I should be able to recover quickly.
