Four Good Mornings

So with Denis now leaving the house at 7:30 a.m. every morning, it falls to me to get the kids out of the house and off to daycare. I was a bit worried about how it would be – the kids LIKE having their dad take them to daycare – but after four mornings of uneventful easiness, I think we’re going to be okay. We’ve left on time every day this week with no problem. I know that won’t happen everyday, but I’m happy that the first week has gone so well.

CootieBoy is the main one to worry about, but he has been a pleasant child each morning. We’ve had very minor incidents – but he has quickly recovered and gone back to his regular happy self. It’s too early to tell, but the switch to soy milk may be helping. I notice his tantrums are easy to control nowadays. And this morning he didn’t even ask for chocolate milk – he was fine with the regular soy milk. And that’s MAJOR.

Anyway, it has also been easy to drop them off at school. The first morning CootieBoy teared up a bit as I walked out, but by this morning he didn’t even turn to wave goodbye when he walked in – he just walked over to where the other boys were and started playing. CootieGirl has enjoyed showing me her artwork every morning and then pushes me out the door so she can start her day.

Oh, and getting CootieBoy to go to bed at night? He has been GREAT this week.

I wanted to tell you that it can take 30 days for dairy to leave his system. If you start gradually taking away things like cheese too, it could take a while for you to see the full benefit, but it sounds like you may already be seeing some! 🙂

He had a full on tantrum a little while ago, I let it escalate for a couple minutes jus to see how long it would take to calm him down. It only took a couple of minutes in timeout (verus battling to get him into timeout for 20 minutes). BIG improvement.

Unfortunately, we’ve run out of soy milk tonight and Denis is loathe to buy more since Costco doesn’t carry it in huge double-gallon containers…

And it actually helps greatly that Daddy helps get the kids dressed (at least one of them) in the morning instead of letting Mama struggle with that with both of them. He’s so good that way.

Oh, yeah, Costco sells soy in bulk, but the price is still 2 1/2 times what reduce fat milk costs. I’m not so sure the soy is what is calming him down. It’s worth it if it is.
