So the first day of my new diet determination went well. Other than the headache I suffered from due to chocolate withdrawal. Man – my head pounded from about noon until I went to bed.
Calorie-wise I did great – well, not that great. Oh, I didn’t overindulge at all. I inadvertently underindulged. Yep, you read that right. Turns out, we didn’t get ANY snacks at the movie because they weren’t serving any. And I went deliberately light on dinner, having a shrimp caesar salad that was basically romaine lettuce, five croutons and four TINY shrimp with a little clear dressing mixed in. I did have some of the appetizer – a delicious concoction called Sea Bake which is crab, shrimp, bay scallops & crawfish baked in a Parmesan cream sauce, served with toast points. Just HEAVENLY and quite possibly my favorite dish at City Tavern. But in the end, my calorie count for the day was only about 750-800 calories, based on my food calculator that I use. Well below the 1300 calories per day that I’m supposed to have. It was purely accidental – I was saving calories for some Twizzlers at the movie, and then we got home at 11 p.m. and I have a “no eating after 9:30 p.m.” 30-day commitment going. So that was it.
The good news? The weigh-in this morning was kind – my bloated weight from yesterday is gone. Phew! I knew it was just a hormonal weight that I saw yesterday, but it was enough to snap me out of the denial fog I had been in for the past 5-6 weeks. So while I sort of expected the loss on the scale today, it didn’t dampen my happiness in the least.
This morning, however, I did NOT pull out the Wii. In fact, I sat at the computer upon arriving home from taking CootieGirl to school. But knowing today is Friday, I know that I can whip out Wii Sports tonight and play some tennis (and try to talk Denis into playing with me).
Congrats! One day down…the rest of your life to go.
