Tonight when I got home from work I found one new bookcase standing in our living room and the other one laid out ready to put together. In no time Denis got the second one done and we were able to unpack another 5-6 boxes and moved another 5-6 to the garage to go into the attic. I can’t put out all of my books since we still don’t have enough space for them, so at least half will still stay in boxes. But at least I now have two matching bookcases in the living room.
We moved the bookcase that had currently been in the living room up to our bedroom and loaded up more books. It’s definitely coming together even though the house is still technically a mess. *lol*
Tonight we opened up the sofa bed and tested the airmattress. I have to say that it is FANTASTIC. There’s definitely no bar in your back on that thing and it feels like a real mattress in every way. I’m so glad that Kirby talked me into getting that particular feature instead of just getting an ordinary sofabed with a 6″ mattress. All I need now in the living room for it to be done completely:
1) A dramatic piece of artwork, which I’m working on. I contacted an artist I saw in eBay and asked if she’d do a commission piece similar to one of her listings, only using the colors in my plaid chair. She wrote me back today and said yes, but not until after T’giving holiday since she’s on vacation. I’m SO excited about that.
2) A good rug. I have decided that we definitely need a rug in there to kind of bring the whole room together. I’m leaning towards one that is mainly in the RED family since red is the accent color in that room. But I’m unsure what kind of red rug – almost solid or traditional oriental with lots of detail. Either way it has to be HUGE (at least 8×11) to really make the effect be dramatic.
3) Paint the cedar chest. If I had the energy to strip it and restain the wood, I would. But I do NOT have the energy for that particular endeavor. So I’ll wait until I get a rug and then I’ll paint the cedar chest, which we’ll be using as a coffee table for the time being.
4) Narrow end tables. They have to be REALLY narrow, and cheap since the custom artwork will be pricey. Maybe Target has something I can get that doesn’t look cheap but still provides surface for drinks and plates.
Only using the colors in my plaid chair.
Oh, no, you didn’t just say that! Rule #1: “Good art won’t match your sofa.” (Fred Babbs) 😉
Well, in this case it will. =)
