Don’t Get Me Wrong, I Love My Kids, But…

I am exhausted. They just plain wear me out. Kudos to all those stay-at-home moms and what they go through each and every day. From Friday afternoon to this evening they have been on the go and in need of constant entertainment.

CootieGirl is easygoing enough – she’s content to play, read, sing, dance, spin in circles, or watch tv. She enjoys the park, the pool, the backyard but doesn’t demand it all the time. CootieBoy, on the other hand, requires the park, pool and backyard. And mainly because if he’s indoors too much you can begin to see his body quiver with teeming energy in need of immediate release. In that way he’s a true boy. If he isn’t climbing something, or running, or jumping or doing something that requires action then it’s not enough fun for him.

Denis did right by the kids today – he took them to the park for about an hour and then came home and set up the sprinkler in the backyard and ran around back there for another hour. They loved every minute of it. But even after all that it was only 4:30 p.m. and we had another three hours in which to keep them entertained.

And that is why as of now I feel like I did not have a 4-day weekend, but instead did battle in an attempt to hold the line of civility in the house. And to no avail, by the way. The main floor of the house looks like a tornado came through this weekend.

Between the all day sickness and fatigue and your active kids, I think we’ll have just the one, thank you. 😉
