Diet, Baby!!

Guess who quite possibly could be doing a weight loss study? ME!!!

You may recall that I submitted my name to a website for a paid medical study. I was sad when I never got a call back. However, last night I refreshed my cellphone (I hate that thing) and found FOUR voicemails on there. One of which was from the medical study people. I immediately called back, but their office was closed.

Denis reminded me a while ago to call, and since the entire floor was empty for a goodbye luncheon for our receptionist, I took the opportunity to call back since I could talk freely.

The woman asked me a couple dozen questions – height, weight, medical history, current medical status, future plans, etc. She said I fit the profile and that the medical screening would finalize my ability to participate. One of my triglycerides, and I can’t remember the other. She said if those were both abnormally elevated then I wouldn’t be able to participate.

It’s a 12 month study, taking two medications. Two-thirds of the people will take the actual medications, the other 1/3 taking a placebo. I will have TWO medical screenings during the 12 months and also have once-a-month meetings with a dietician and study monitor. I’ll get paid $20 for each of those visits, with an extra $200 coming on the 3rd month, 6th month and 9th month visit.

The goal? Weight loss.

YEE HAW, people.
