The night with Denis went okay. I managed to get to daycare just after six o’clock just in time for CootieBoy to complain that he needed his pullup changed. One of the workers went with me, and sure enough – he has a MAJOR diaper rash AND the bump on his butt was just starting to ooze. Needless to say he screamed bloody murder and kicked around while we tried to get him cleaned up (and yes, he still has digestive problems). Thank goodness he has a doctor appointment tomorrow so that he can get that bump drained and cleaned up. I think he’ll officially hate doctors at that point though, since this will be his second visit in a row to the doctor in which a bump gets drained. Poor little guy.
Got home and made the kids dinner and they got a phone call from Denis, who is in Atlanta for the weekend. I let them watch their alphabet DVD and then I got them into their PJs for the night. CootieBoy settled into bed rather quickly and gave me the high sign that he wanted to be left alone (“I want Daddy,” followed by a flip onto his side facing away from me). I gave him a quick kiss on the head and then went in to CootieGirl’s room. Read her a story, said prayers, and voila – I was done! I think all told the “putting the kids to bed” event only took 10 minutes. I guess it’s no fun trying to avoid going to bed if Daddy isn’t around to enjoy it.
Tomorrow I have to drop CootieGirl off at daycare no later than 8:00 a.m. so that I can get CootieBoy to his 8:30 a.m. appointment. Early morning – I pray CootieBoy sleeps through the night.
You can put the kids to bed from now on. You’re good at it. LOL Glad to hear it’s going well over there.
