Day Two was productive – got a couple more things done and managed to get in two hours at the pool as well. More things have been crossed off the list.
Today, Day Three, is a bit more low-key. I finished the last coat on the cedar chest (it looks great) and put it back in place. I went through the kids’ toys once more time and got another small bag of things to take away that they’ll never miss. I’ll probably do it again when school starts next month.
I vacuumed the hardwood floors and the stairs, did a couple loads of laundry, and finished watching a movie I started the other night but didn’t finish.
Tonight our friends Ted and Anne are staying the night on their way back down to Florida. We’ll be seeing “Harry Potter” tonight. After they leave tomorrow I’ll shampoo the carpets throughout the house before heading to the pool for a couple hours. Then tomorrow night I’ll be meeting Denis in Charlotte to enjoy a quiet, romantic dinner (no babysitter required!!!).
I am leaning towards driving to get the kids on Saturday morning, which would leave me with Friday to do anything I want – I’ve done no yardwork at all other than mow the weeds, so I may try and get out there on Friday morning before it gets hot and get some stuff done in the front yard. Then I’ll either hit the pool again or try and go see a movie with my friend Martha. Or both!
It doesn’t sound like I miss the kids, does it? But I do. I don’t miss the fighting or whining, but I do miss the hugs and kisses, the random cries of “I love you,” and their peels of laughter while watching “Wipeout.”
