David Bloom Remembered

I was going to go to the David Bloom memorial service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral that is taking place in two minutes, but I just looked out the window and they’ve got the entrance cordoned off – I guess they aren’t letting the general public in anymore.

Mmmm, I wondered when and where it was going to be. The cathedral is a pretty big place – I would think they would have places set aside for the general public. God Bless him.

WNBC here in NY is actually showing a live feed of the service on their website, which I’ve had on since 2:05 p.m. It’s been a nice service – the eulogy was particularly touching because it was done by a priest who has been friends of the Blooms for 11 years.

It was so great to hear about David’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus, David was at peace in life and in death. David was a very special person…we miss him…I pray for his family.

I just wanted to share with all of you that I was a special friend of David’s. I knew him when we both played ball together at Edina HS. I have been his friend ever since. I remember the last time he visited me in Los Angeles. He was so full of energy, spirit and outright FUN. He was not a touch feely kind of guy, but he was very touchy feely with his eyes and the way he spoke to you as if speaking directly to your heart. I miss David and it was not until after he was gone did I come to know that I actually loved him as my special friend. To all of us who knew him…. we all have a part of him in our hearts. Even today, as I awoke…. his was the first face I had in my mind even before I opened my eyes. You just had to know him to know what I am talking about. David was a true friend, a true father, a true husband but to me, David was and is LOVE. I miss you David….. I always will.

I would be happy to share more personal thoughts with anyone who wants to write to me.
