So last night I downloaded iTunes again since our copy was wonky. It loaded up fine and voila – I had access again and promptly downloaded a few Don & Mike radio podcasts to my MP3 player.
Then I went in search of a song that someone at church had put on a CD that I have been unable to locate (the live version of “Our God Reigns” from the Passion ’06 cd). I love the song and wanted to buy a copy. So I downloaded the song for 99 cents from iTunes.
Only to find out that the file format is M4P, which is only supported by iTunes and iPods. I was so ticked off – not just at iTunes but at myself for not remembering this little fact before I downloaded the song. It was one of the reasons why I didn’t get an iPod – I wanted to buy songs that I’d be able to play on ANYthing, including any cds I might opt to make with songs I buy.
So I went to MSN Music, bought the song AGAIN (it’s worth the $1.98 I spent on it, so I’m not worried about it) and loaded it onto my MP3 player, which is now up to 1,445 tracks, about 10 of which are Don & Mike podcasts that get deleted as soon as I’m done listening to them.
I’m loving this MP3 player – it’s the best investment in technology that I’ve made in a long time. I did a lot of research before buying it to make sure I got the one that would work best for me. I ended up with the Creative Zen Touch (see picture) and it’s awesome. I used it during my entire trip from NJ to VA to SC to VA to NJ to VA to SC when we moved (I get exhausted all over again thinking about that week). Since I was doing an average of 5 hours a day driving the car that week it was a blessing to have it, and I only had about 800 songs on it at the time! I don’t listen to local radio here in NC/SC at all during my commute – I just listen to my MP3 player, usually to whatever clip of Don & Mike I have on there (their podcasts that I download from their website are usually 30 minutes long – and last one entire drive in to work or drive home from work – it’s perfect).
The Creative Zen Touch has limited accessories, but I don’t need ’em. I’ve got my cassette tape adapter for the car and my charger and portable speakers at work. And at home there’s no need to turn on the Zen Touch since the player’s software has the complete musical library saved on our computer for our listening pleasure.
LOVE IT.
You can download songs from iTunes, burn them onto a regular blank CD, and then re-import them as MP3 files on iTunes. It’s a little time-consuming, but considering the crystal-clear audio you get from their files, it’s worth it. I own an iPod Video because I trust Apple products and I like the fact I can play almost every type of audio file known to human existance on it.
By the way, I was a reader of your blog a long time ago and I noticed there’s been quite the change. It looks nice, but where’s the Celeb Death Pool?
Matthew, the Celeb Death Pool just kind of died out. A few of us email each other when a celeb dies, but we don’t do an official one anymore. But maybe I’ll scrounge it up again in case more people want to participate.
