Counting Those Calories

Have I mentioned how much I hate counting calories?

Wednesday I had 2000 calories on a day that had a heavier dinner than I’ve been having lately. This morning I put in my calories for yesterday, a day in which I had a homemade cheeseburger for dinner, and buttered popcorn for a snack, and you’ll never believe how many calories I ended up with for the day.

1350.

Isn’t that CRAZY? And what’s weird is that I didn’t feel deprived and still ate relatively normally (despite my one bite of failed oatmeal for breakkies).

Today I had cereal for breakfast (which I ate before I took my pill), a Lean Cuisine, a fruit cup and 1/4 a bagel for lunch, and then just now I had a big salad with shrimp, dressing and 1/2 a slice of bacon. And surprise surprise – I’ve only had 1000 calories so far today, so I have 300 calories that I can have before my 9:45 p.m. cutoff, should I choose to have them.

Once again, that’s completely insane.

Knowing that I CAN do 1,300 calories a day (which boggles my mind), I won’t feel guilty at all about those days when I end up with 2,000 calories because of some special event. But I’ll STILL find it REALLY annoying to do this counting crap each and every day for the next 365 days. That’ll get old REALLY quick.
