I think I forgot to tell this story. Every now and then I’ll remember it and think, “I need to post about that!” and then life will get in the way and I’ll forget. This morning I thought of it again and made it a point to remember to post.
Last month I was driving in the old part of our town – our main street is very quaint and much like you envision whenever you think of small town “main streets.” Near Main Street is an old railroad track that you have to pass over in order to drive down Main Street.
Now, my grandmother lives in a REALLY small town – we’re talking about 800 people total if they’re lucky – and the entrance to her Main Street is much the same as the one in my town – including the railroad track. Well, this past summer CootieGirl went with Marmie to visit GGma (which is what we now call my grandmother, who is CootieGirl’s great-grandmother). Apparently the appearance of GGma’s Main Street was a marker in CootieGirl’s mind, because last month when we were approaching OUR main street, she pointed and exclaimed, “We’re going to visit GGma! This is where SHE lives!” At first I had no idea what she was talking about, and then I realized EXACTLY what she was talking about.
Her mind is amazing. She obviously has a photogenic memory since she mirrored two places in her mind about two months apart. LOVE that girl. She’s smart as a whip.
That is truly amazing. It just goes to show you that children are like sponges, soaking up everything. They are observing and listening to more than you think. Another reason for parents to monitor their kids’ TV viewing!!
I think you mean photographic memory instead of photogenic. The kid is photogenic. And that is an amazing thing for her to remember and put together.
Heh. Yeah, I meant photographic. That’s what I get for not reading my posts before hitting “publish.”
