Today was CootieBoy’s last gymnastics class. I told him before class that he had to listen to his teachers and obey them. From minute one he was acting up and really only “obeyed” when it was his turn to do the physical tumbling stuff. So with five minutes to go I went to the front desk and arrange for his remaining 7 weeks to be put on hold until the spring/summer session. By then CootieGirl should be ready to move up to the hour long class, and I’ll put CootieBoy back in by himself.
At first when I took him out of the class (with five minutes to go), he didn’t understand what was going on. But he quickly realized that my promise was coming true – by not obeying, he loses out on gymnastics. He immediately began crying, “I’ll listen to teacher! I’ll LISTEN!” but class was over already and it was time to go home.
When we got home I stayed in the car with him for a few minutes after Denis and CootieGirl went in the house and told him that if he behaved this week and did really well that I’d consider taking him again next week, but that if he didn’t listen to the teachers from the moment class starts, I’d take him out immediately. But I’m pretty confident that I won’t be taking him back at all. It’s too much of a disruption to the other kids.
I had the EXACT same situation with my boy in November. I pulled him out & told him we are on hiatus until his 3rd birthday in February.
