Last night as we were putting CootieBoy and CootieGirl to bed, CB ran up to the chalkboard and started writing his letters. He’s 3 1/2. He did about 12 letters in a row before he asked for help (I randomly called out ones I wanted him to try). It was amazing to behold.
To what do I credit his ability to recognize and write his letters at 3 1/2 years old? It’s a combination of 1) having an older sister who is doing the same thing, 2) the Leapfrog DVDs, 3) playing letter games on the computer at daycare, and 3) the bicycle game we gave him for Christmas.
Behold the video I took today…Warning: It’s a 5 minute WMV file so it’s big – about 65MB
He’s doing great! He should be ready start reading now.
We’re working on that. This week we looked through the magazine we get from our zoo and I was teaching him what sounds the letters make when they are together (like ST and TH and PL).
That was very impressive.
His poor little hand though; bet that hurt!
That’s remarkable! I spent ten years teaching a Pre-K class and most of the 5 year olds that I had to work with couldn’t do what CB has done.
Just stopping by from Jen’s. Cute kid…and smart!
