Continuing On…

So after my arrival last Friday I took CootieGirl to the pool for a quick dip. They have a great kid’s pool that is only about 18 inches deep and VERY warm (like a sauna but without the jets). She was confident enough to kneel in the water, and exclaim, “Look, Mama, I’m not scared anymore!” This in response to her tumble into the big pool on Wednesday.

Later that day we got confirmation that the closing on our NJ house took place without a hitch and that the money would be deposited in the next week or so. Interestingly enough, we ended up making a bit more money than we had calculated.

That night we set up the DirecTV box that I had brought with me in the car so that the kids finally had something to watch on tv (lots of Blue’s Clues, LazyTown and Hi-5). Unfortunately, Denis and I got a restless night of sleep because we had NO BLANKETS for our bed. But at least we were on a bed as opposed to the floor like that first night.

Saturday we made the determination that at least 10 boxes in the apartment could actually go to storage. It made me laugh when Denis suddenly began purging some of his things to the garbage. “You couldn’t do that in NJ?” I asked, laughing. We ran some errands including getting a second storage unit (the other one was full already). And then once again we hit the pool with the kids. But this time the warm water did something to CootieGirl and just as we were leaving she puked next to the pool. It was just a leisurely day and I went to bed early because I hit a wall and had to go to sleep RIGHT NOW.

On Sunday (yay, we’re now officially into THIS WEEK) the kids slept in again – they have started sleeping until 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. since we arrived. A full hour later than usual. We headed to Charlotte for the day and took them to Discovery Place, which is a fun children’s museum with plenty of things for them to do. Of course, my kids loved the big screen tv and playing with the water. At some point CootieBoy hit his limit and had a major meltdown due to no nap, so we left after only 3 hours there. But we’ll definitely go back.

In that day’s paper I saw two interesting ads for jobs and decided to print out my resume at the library and forward them along. I also colored my hair on Sunday – a nice medium blonde. It looks good and the color took really well, given the fiasco that happened a few months ago when I colored it a different color every 3-4 weeks.

Monday, the 24th and part of Tuesday – that story will appear at Scratch Mittens when I’m done here.

Tuesday afternoon we took the kids to the Columbia Zoo, I’ve already posted about it, so I won’t go into it again but we bought a family pass that allows us to go back whenever we want and also gets us discounts to other children’s activities throughout SC. Upon arriving home the whole family passed out.

Now we come to Wednesday, which was the most miserable day here. That deserves it’s own post. So I’ll end this one now and go to SM and tell CootieBoy’s story.
