What a busy weekend we had – how about you?
Jen and Beau came into town this weekend so we could go to Homecoming at our college which is only an hour or so away from where Denis and I now live (Gardner Webb University). They arrived late on Friday due to some bad traffic in southern Virginia. However, despite the late start we had a good time. The kids loved having them here.
A few things of note:
1) I did seven loads of laundry this weekend. SEVEN. And I’m doing one more tonight. That’s EIGHT loads of laundry for a family of four. How is that possible?
2) GWU won the game against VMI on Saturday – but barely. No one was at homecoming, but that’s okay – it was a pleasant day and the kids had a blast.
3) We were able to have dinner with Noel and Beth, their kids, and Noel’s mom and her husband. It was a lot of fun to catch up with them, despite being at two separate tables.
4) We had Orkin come by on Friday and spray the house, and signed up for a yearly contract where they come every three months and spray the exterior of the house. Hopefully this will lessen the potential bug invasions we might experience. I already noticed a lot less millipedes this weekend than the last few days before the guy came in to spray.
5) Before Jen and Beau left on Sunday we went to my old office to pick up a desk that Denis was allowed to have. Good thing, too, since that thing was so heavy it required all three of us to take it out of there. There’s NO WAY Denis and I would have done it without Beau. We also snagged a couple filing cabinets and my end table. The desk looks great in Denis’ office and he got the computer all set up last night AND was finally able to get our old hard drive loaded into the computer as well!
6) Tonight’s missions: Hang artwork in Denis’ office, vacuum the house, and put more boxes into the attic.
7) WW was a non-issue this weekend. However, I did find my scale and my weight was about what I thought it was. This morning it was actually 1.5 pounds less than I thought, so WW online believes I lost 1.5 pounds. That’s okay, since I’m positive that my starting point was entirely correct and that despite the weekend I probably DID lose a 1.5 pounds. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself. *lol*
8) I’ve informed Mr. BIL that tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. I will be in Rock Hill getting my driver’s license and car registered. He said that was fine. He then told me he was going to be out Thursday and Friday. SCORE!!!!!
9) Jen and Beau took most of the baby stuff with them this weekend. Cleared a nice little space in the garage that enabled us to put up one of our metal bookcases against the wall and put all the Christmas stuff on it. So we’re slowly getting the garage cleaned up and I figure we’ll be ready to start parking in there by Thanksgiving. Denis thinks we’re just moving chairs on the Titanic.
10) This will probably be my only post of the day because my desk is covered in projects that Mr. BIL wants to get done quickly since he’s out Thursday and Friday. And with me out Wednesday at my notary class, that leaves today and tomorrow to get it all done. Ouch.
